Bernardo Concrete, Inc. was contacted by a production company to work on a local production of A & E’ Flip This House.  The project took place in the city of Costa Mesa in Southern Orange County.  Costa Mesa is surrounded by the cities of Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, Irvine, and El Toro.  The scope of work included in this project included concrete demolition and concrete construction.  Bernardo Concrete, Inc. was the perfect concrete contractor for the job!

The concept behind the show Flip This House” is that a house is purchased, fixed up, and then sold for a profit.  Many contractors put in their expertise to help make the house and surrounding property profitable and Bernardo Concrete, Inc. was the concrete contractor chosen for this particular house.  Their part of this project included the demolition and removal of any concrete on the front of the property, including the driveway, sidewalk, and curb.  They also removed the front lawn, giving the landscapers a blank canvas with which to work.

Passing the Test

Saving Trees in Diamond Bar with Concrete Construction

Concrete Planter Made Larger for Existing Trees

This particular concrete construction project took place in a business park in the city of Diamond Bar, California.  Diamond Bar is located in Los Angeles County with the city of Pomona to the east and the city of Walnut to the west.  The city of Chino Hills is to the south with San Dimas to the north.  The job was performed on the weekend while the parking lot was empty to give the least chance of disruption to the employees and to create the safest working environment for Bernardo Concrete, Inc.

Trees Offer an Aesthetic Value

This business park benefits from the beautiful landscaping and numerous trees.  In Southern California, trees are not only for aesthetic purposes, but also needed for shade.  The issue in this park was that some of the tree roots were lifting and breaking the concrete curbs and asphalt that surrounded the trees.  Unsafe conditions in a parking lot, such as the one created by these tree roots, are a nightmare for the parking lot owner.  It is their responsibility to keep the area safe for employees and customers.  A solution was found that saved the trees and also removed the tripping hazard.

Bernardo Concrete, Inc. is always willing to work with you to find a solution to your particular concrete construction project.  In this case, BCI removed the existing concrete curb and asphalt around the trees.  The planter around the tree was enlarged and new concrete curb was constructed around the planter giving plenty of room for the tree roots.  The areas around the trees were already “no parking” areas, so the parking lot did not lose any parking spaces and the trees were saved.

Rancho Cucamonga ADA Upgrade

About the ADA in Riverside, California

This weekend Bernardo Concrete, Inc. was asked to perform some ADA upgrades in the city of Rancho Cucamonga. Rancho Cucamonga is located in San Bernardino County.  It is surrounded by the cities of Fontana, Ontario, Upland, and Claremont.  This project was performed in a busy business park, so, it had to be done on the weekend. Bernardo Concrete, Inc. is a concrete contractor that completely understands the complex codes and regulations of the federal ADA standards.

ADA Requirements, Grades, and Regulations

When our customers called us, they were in need of advice. It seemed that some of their concrete crosswalks and ramps were in need of ADA upgrades. The main reason they needed to be upgraded was because the grades of their ramps were not compliant with current ADA laws. They decided to hire Bernardo Concrete, Inc. to be their concrete contractor on this project.

About This ADA Project

The first thing Bernardo Concrete had to do was to lay out the new ramp and crosswalk in preparation for the saw cutter. The existing ramp and crosswalk was made from concrete pavers and were a beautiful addition to this business park. Unfortunately, they did not meet the ADA codes and some of them had to be removed.  Once the existing pavers were removed, Bernardo Concrete, Inc. created wooden forms and poured new concrete.  We paid special attention to making sure the grading and truncated domes were ADA compliant and safe.  BCI is a concrete contractor that knows the ADA codes and regulations.
